Help is on the way

The Tangueros Quarterly Review's devote readers, especially those who are sensitive to social matters, will certainly remember the bellicose letter that La Momia sent to the Karadakjian widow - see the TQR's second issue - with regard to the Titanes en el Ring's ultimate match for their inalienable union rights. The Mummy had forecast a very rough, no holds barred dispute: and so it went. Unfortunately, after almost five months of all-out struggle and despite the Titans' intrepid deeds (the intricate half-nelson scored by El Pajuerano yesterday will remain in the wrestling annals for a long time), the result is shaping no good for the braves.
Anyway, all hopes have not failed them yet: from the adjacent world of Tango-Show, the Tango first raters enter the arena to back up at last their man-handled colleagues.
The Asociaciòn Maestros Coreògrafos y Bailarines de Tango Argentino, which just comes to be established in Buenos Aires with the intention of countering the porteño manager's bullying with a legal corporation, opens a new conflictual front and, coup de theatre, storms in to the wrestlers' aid.
Although not every Tango personality concurred in the authority's foundation - the members are barely enough to hold the numberless offices in the organization chart (in Tango there are no private soldiers) - all Tangueros, belonging or not to the new-born AsMaCoBaTa, share with the Titans, as well as worries, status and bruises, also the same platform of demands: medical covering, living wage, social security, a pension whatever.
In its specific field (the Tango), the Association is preparing to lay hands on the several sections, such as for example the didactics, in which prices are still confused. A smart certificate is ready to adorn the walls of the licensed instructors' studios.
As we did in due time with the Titans, we wish also these show business afflicted workers to achieve their ambitious goals soon.

El Nortazo

Buenos Aires has been falling a prey of el Nortazo for the last two weeks. This is an uncommon weather situation coming from the North that revokes the austral autumn, rises the temperature to over 20°, brings out the flowers again and compels the meteologists to put away their magnetic little umbrellas with lightnings.
The Nortazo package includes also the offbeat shambles of Assassination Tango, the film produced by Francis Ford Coppola that Robert Duvall is shooting in San Telmo and in other picturesque locations these days. Being part of an indipendent, low budget production - self-financing, Jim Jarmush said, allows us to make mistakes in a smaller scale - the troupe has been welcomed by the Tango-related porte
ños with the same enthusiasm as the foudlings by a short of funds orphanage.
According to well-informed sources, the film will cast Robert Duvall himself, Roberto Vermes (alias Pablo Veròn, this time playing a Tango dancer), Maria Nieves, all the usual Tango-Movie Kit's cameos, a swarm of old milongueros and the Gerardo Portalea's white zoot suit. The story, which has leaked out the press conference as well, would be about a mob war between gangs in a Tango background.
In substance, the same AsMaCoBaTa's story we have described in the previous note.
The Luis Bacalov's original music will be interlarded with some old and inexpensive tangos of public property.
Among them, a special one, sentenced to be a jinx by a silly superstition, whose title we won't name here or anywhere, under no circumstance.

From the planet NCT

The Nueva Compañia Tangueros website has been updated the past May 25. In addition to a sober restyling, there are three new sections:

It has also been created the TMN archives with all the previous issues.
Either in English and in Italian.

Differently to what we announced on the May Newsletter, the NCT second new pair of dancers which has been selected in the Buenos Aires' audition, is actually Vanina Iurisci and Ernesto Candal, young milongueros from the Villa Urquiza breeding ground, former pupils of Lampazo and Gerardo Portalea.
On the other hand, we confirm that the first pair is Silvia Vaccaro and Mariano Suazo.
Biographies are available in Company.

The July tour of TANGUEROS Four Nights is getting into shape. Here is the calendar:
